A. Philip Randolph (1889–1979) was an influential African American labor leader who founded the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and organized for workers' rights. He led major civil-rights campaigns, helped secure Executive Order 8802 and co-organized the 1963 March on Washington.
