Adlai Stevenson

Adlai Stevenson II (1900–1965) was an American lawyer and politician who served as Governor of Illinois (1949–1953) and twice was the Democratic nominee for president (1952, 1956). He later served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (1961–1965) and was known for eloquent public speaking and progressive internationalism.
