Albert Schweitzer (1875–1965) was an Alsatian theologian, organist, philosopher, physician and humanitarian who won the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize. He founded and ran a hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon, and promoted a philosophy of "Reverence for Life."
