Beverly Sills

Beverly Sills (1929–2007) was an American lyric coloratura soprano who achieved international acclaim for bel canto and 19th-century repertoire and for her long association with the New York City Opera. After retiring from the stage she served as an arts administrator and advocate, including leadership roles at Lincoln Center and other major arts organizations.
