Chuck Close
Chuck Close was an American painter and photographer celebrated for his large-scale, photorealistic portraits created with a grid-based technique. After a 1988 spinal artery collapse that left him partly paralyzed, he continued producing landmark portrait work using adapted methods and became a major figure in contemporary American art.
