David Storey

David Storey (1933–2017) was an English novelist, playwright, screenwriter and painter, best known for the novel This Sporting Life and for winning the 1976 Booker Prize for Saville. His work often examined class and human relationships; the quoted line reflects his interest in friendship and interpersonal grace.
