Elia Kazan

Elia Kazan (1909–2003) was a Turkish-born American director and producer known for landmark films and stage productions, including A Streetcar Named Desire and On the Waterfront, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director. He co-founded the Actors Studio, mentored actors, and remained a pivotal and sometimes controversial figure in mid-20th-century American theater and film.
