Ferdinand Magellan
Ferdinand Magellan (c.1480–1521) was a Portuguese explorer who led the 1519 Spanish expedition whose voyage achieved the first circumnavigation of the Earth, completed after his death. He served the Spanish crown, sailed from Seville, and was killed in the Philippines during the voyage.
