James W. Black
Sir James W. Black (1924–2010) was a Scottish pharmacologist who won the 1988 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for developing beta-blockers and H2 receptor antagonists, including propranolol and cimetidine. His work transformed treatment of heart disease and peptic ulcers and influenced modern drug design.
