Socrates, Ancient Greece.
Socrates (c. 470–399 BCE) was a classical Greek philosopher credited with founding Western ethical philosophy and the dialectical method known as the Socratic method. He left no writings; his ideas survive through accounts by students such as Plato and Xenophon and his famous maxim asserts that an unexamined life is not worth living.
