Sojourner Truth

Sojourner Truth (c. 1797–1883) was an African American abolitionist and women’s rights activist born into slavery in New York; she escaped in 1826 and became a prominent preacher and speaker. She campaigned for abolition and equal rights, and the quote "Truth is powerful and it prevails." reflects her emphasis on moral justice and dignity.
