Tenzing Norgay
Tenzing Norgay (c.1914–1986) was a Nepali-Indian Sherpa mountaineer who, with Sir Edmund Hillary, completed the first confirmed ascent of Mount Everest on 29 May 1953. He later promoted Himalayan mountaineering and mountain safety, serving in roles such as at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling.
