Ali Ibn Abi Talib
Ali ibn Abi Talib (c. 600–661) was cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, served as the fourth caliph in Sunni Islam and is regarded as the first Imam in Shia Islam. He is known for leadership, legal and spiritual teachings; many of his sayings and sermons emphasize justice, courage and forbearance, including the line about giving fragrance to the hand that crushes the flower.
