Mother Teresa (born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu) was an Albanian-born Roman Catholic nun and missionary who founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, India. She became internationally known for caring for the poorest and sick, received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, and was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016.
