Stephen Hawking (1942–2018) was a British theoretical physicist and cosmologist noted for pioneering work on black holes, singularity theorems and Hawking radiation. He held the Lucasian Professorship at Cambridge, wrote the popular science book A Brief History of Time, and the quote 'Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change' reflects his emphasis on adaptability.
